Creator, FleetGuide.in

Former Fleet Operations Manager at a Mumbai logistics company (2016-2019), where I managed 85 commercial vehicles handling intracity and regional deliveries. Created FleetGuide to share practical knowledge about fleet costs, GPS tracking, and operations based on real experience.

Background

I started as a Fleet Operations Manager in 2016 at a mid-sized logistics company in Mumbai. Our fleet of 85 vehicles (mix of LCVs, MCVs, and a few heavy trucks) handled e-commerce deliveries and general cargo across Maharashtra and neighboring states.

Like most fleet managers, I dealt with rising fuel costs, driver management, route planning, vehicle breakdowns, and the constant pressure to reduce costs while maintaining service quality. In 2017, we implemented GPS tracking across the fleet, which helped identify fuel wastage, optimize routes, and improve driver accountability.

Over three years, I learned what actually works in Indian fleet operations versus what looks good in vendor presentations. We managed to reduce our per-kilometer operating cost by 22% through a combination of GPS tracking, driver training, route optimization, and preventive maintenance.

Why FleetGuide?

When I was managing the fleet, I found very few practical resources that explained things clearly for Indian conditions. Most GPS vendor websites were full of marketing jargon. Cost calculators either didn't exist or gave unrealistic results. Articles were generic and didn't address real challenges like regional diesel price variations, AIS-140 compliance, or dealing with Indian road conditions.

FleetGuide started as a personal project to document the formulas, calculators, and insights I wish I'd had when I started managing the fleet. The goal is simple: provide practical, accurate information that helps transport business owners and fleet managers make better decisions.

What I Do Now

I left fleet operations in 2019 to focus on creating content and tools for FleetGuide. I research GPS tracking systems, analyze fleet cost data, study industry trends, and write guides based on practical experience and current market conditions.

All product comparisons on FleetGuide are based on publicly available information, manufacturer specs, and user reviews. I don't accept payment for reviews or rankings.
